Excavation is one of the most hazardous types of work in the construction industry. Silverado Excavating Company therefore makes its safety training and procedures a top priority. Highlights of our Safety Program include:
  • Weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings with Field Personnel
  • Weekly Management & Supervisory Safety Meetings
  • Quarterly Company-wide Meetings covering relevant Safety Topics with occasional Expert Guest Speakers
  • Safety Incentive Program with Quarterly Awards
  • Mandatory Hard Hat and Eye Protection required for all field personnel
  • Specific Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) including Safety Hazard Analysis (S.H.A.) prior to work on tasks requiring special or unique conditions
  • Pre-employment, Post-incident and Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, as well as Federal DOT Pipeline and Commercial Driver Testing
All employees working in or near excavations are “Certified Competent Persons” under OSHA’s Construction Industry Standard 1926 Subpart P for Excavations. Silverado is also a Qualified Gas Backfill Contractor approved by Sierra Pacific Power Company for natural gas service installations.
